Why Now is the Best Time to Start Your Own Business

Many of us want to start our own business and be our own boss. Probably, this idea has also crossed your mind and you might have also expressed your desire of having your own business to your family and friends. But what keeps you from taking the action of starting your own business? Are you thinking that you are not ready and “now” is not the perfect time?

The truth is, there is no such thing as a “perfect time” on when you should start your own business. All you need to do is to take action, even if you just take baby steps. The most important thing is that you are moving forward towards your goal.

There are plenty of reasons why you should stop wondering and quit waiting if you want to be an entrepreneur.

“I don’t have enough time” is not an excuse.

We are all given the same 24 hours a day and it is up to you on how you are going to use it— if you are going to use it on meaningful things.

Think of it this way. If you are only given 24 hours to live, would you spend it on Twitter or Facebook? Perhaps your answer is “no.” You would probably answer that you will spend it with the people you love or do the things you wanted to do for so long. You would not waste your 24 hours on time-wasting activities, right?

Same goes with your plan or dream of starting a business. If you have an idea for a business, go for it! Make time for it. The worst thing that could happen to you is regretting not pursuing your dream today. Make time for your business, make it work, or someone else will.

You will never know if it will work until you take the big leap.

The reason why most aspiring entrepreneurs, don’t even try to take the first step in starting their business is because they are not sure if their idea would work. They are afraid that the business they want to establish would only crash and burn.

But what if their business ideas work? What if they would be successful on it? It is a fact that you will encounter challenges along the way when you are establishing your business and you will also make mistakes along the way. Whether you start your business now or later, you will still make those mistakes.  So, it’s better to start now and commit those mistakes early, learn from those mistakes, recover, move on, and grow.

Most businesses take time to be successful.

You can launch a start up quickly, but making it into a real business takes time. If you read biographies of successful entrepreneurs, athletes, or artists, you would discover that their success did not happen overnight. In fact, it took them years of hard work, dedication, and failed many times before they achieved their current level of success.

For you to be successful on what you are doing, you need to be an expert, and for you to be an expert you need to learn what to do, which takes many years. So, it is better to start your business now and start learning.

You’re never too late to any party.

You are not too old or too late to start your own small business. Colonel Harland Sanders founded KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) in his 40’s. Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook is not the first social media platform. These are just some examples that it is never too late to introduce your product or service to the market. Starting a business has nothing to do with how old you are or how ready you are. You just need to face the initial fear that keeps you from starting your own business, and move forward.
