Doing research about the company demonstrates that you are excited about the job and that you want to start a career with them. A job interview is a two-way street. It is a perfect opportunity to ask any questions and find out any information about the job, organization, and future colleagues, even if you have already done some extensive research. Prepare for the situational and behavioral interview questions

The STAR method is a technique that you can use to answer these types of questions. This approach is a tool for structuring your answer and being positive about describing your experiences throughout your response. The acronym stands for:

Situation: Describe the event or situation that you were in.

Task: Explain the task or problem which required you to take action.

Action: Narrate the actions you took to complete the task or solve a problem.

Result: What did you achieve? Or what was the result?

Dress for Success

Being well-dressed does matter in an interview. It shows that you took the time and effort to look well presented for the interview. When you look good, you feel good, and the interviewer will naturally perceive you as successful, confident, professional, and a person that their company wants to represent.  

Before going to the interview, do research about the dress code of the company. Even if the employees in the company wear t-shirts and denim, you should show up to the interview in smart casual attire. If you are interviewing for a professional-level, corporate job, formal business attire is the standard clothing that is expected to wear for an interview.

Also, don’t forget about personal grooming because it is essential as to what you wear. It shows that you take good care of yourself.

Practice appropriate body language and non-verbal communication

Body language speaks louder than words. There are some studies claiming that showed 93% of communication is non-verbal, while the word account is only 7%. Understanding the fundamentals of body language will help you succeed in your interview. Here are some body language tips that you can apply to convey the right message to the interviewer. 

  • Sit straight with your back firmly lean against the chair. This signals that you are confident.
  • Show that you are engaged and paying attention during the conversation by maintaining eye contact or looking at the face of the interviewer. 
  • Express attentiveness by nodding your head when you agree or understand what the interviewer is saying.
  • Show your palms and use hand gestures while speaking. This signals honesty and engagement.

You need to be mentally and physically prepared for your job interview.
