Do you want to know how to build an email list on Facebook? In this article, you will learn different methods that will help you build your email list using this social media platform.

Facebook is the most popular social media site in the world. According to statistics, there are over 2.50 billion monthly active users of Facebook. Also, there are 1.66 billion people who are considered to be active users of Facebook as they log in to this social media site daily.

As of May 2016, about 16 million local businesses have created Facebook pages. This is because Facebook has transformed the way businesses effectively conduct their marketing strategies.

Building an email list on Facebook does not mean that you will use Facebook itself to send email marketing campaigns. You can build your email list using Facebook as a medium to obtain email addresses from your potential customers.

How to build email lists with Facebook

1. Add an email sign-up form on your Facebook Page

First, you need to have a Facebook fan page or business page before you can install a sign-up form app on your Facebook Page.

A Facebook fan page is a fan site or fan page of celebrities, organizations, political and public figures, or businesses to show their presence. It is visible to the public, and every Facebook user can connect to the fan page. Also, anyone who will “Like” the page can receive notifications and updates from that fan page.

Facebook business page, on the other hand, is a public profile for a business, product, or brand that can be used to promote the business/product/brand. It can also be used to post announcements and updates, build a community, find new customers, and make sales.

2. Add a call-to-action (CTA) button to your Facebook Page

call-to-action (CTA) button is designed to prompt people visiting your Facebook Page to perform a specific act, e.g., go to your shop, book a reservation, or any action that you want to encourage people to do immediately. The CTA button can be found near the “Like” button on your cover photo. Since you are building an email list, you should use the “Sign Up” call-to-action button. You may follow this set of instructions to guide you on how to add a sign-up button on your Facebook page.

3. Use engaging cover photos

A Facebook cover photo is a large photo that can be found on top of your page, and it is usually the first thing people see on a Facebook Page. Its dimensions are 820 pixels wide by 312 pixels tall for desktop and 640 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall for mobile users, making it a perfect feature for marketing your business.

Here are some cool ideas on how you can use your Facebook cover photos that will engage with your followers.

4. Conduct a contest on Facebook

Running a contest on Facebook will give your Facebook fans a reason to provide you with their email address. Using this technique will help you organically collect a lot of email addresses from potential customers.

First, choose a product or prize that you will be giving away to the winner. It could be anything you like to give away such as a sample of your own product as long as it is in the interest of engaging your target audience.

Next, to achieve your target information, you need to create a well-designed landing page. Your landing page should influence your Facebook fans to take action and send their name and email address for you to collect and choose a winner. As an incentive, you can provide the people who will join the contest newsletters from your business.

5. Host an online webinar using Facebook Live

A webinar or web-based seminar is a seminar, workshop, lecture, or presentation that is held online. You can use this method to connect with a broader audience to promote your business in real-time via Facebook Live. The email addresses of the participants that you have collected during the registration process will automatically be your email list or your subscribers.

6. Offer your Facebook followers an incentive

Another technique that you can use to gather your Facebook fan’s email address is by offering incentives in exchange. Some of the most popular types of incentives that you can offer are:

  • Free samples
  • Promotional items
  • Free upgrade
  • Loyalty programs
  • Bonus product
  • Free information
  • Free shipping
  • Price reduction

7. Encourage your subscribers to share your newsletter

Enabling the option to share your newsletter by including a “share to a friend” button in your marketing content will help expand your contact list. Also, placing an opt-in form at the bottom of each content, such as a “Subscribe” CTA will help you get their email address and name.

8. Build a list of targeted subscribers with Facebook ads

A Facebook ad is an effective method in building your email list, although you have to pay (for a relatively low cost) so that the targeted people reached by the ad will get to fill in your lead form.
